Vintage salvaged ship's international maritime signal flag, used by ships in communication.  The principal system of flags and codes is the Interational Code of Signals. 

Letter / code / radio name:  
Yankee. Meaning: "I am dragging my anchor".  

Blazon: Bendy sinister of ten or and gules.

Natural material.  Screened.  Moderate patina, Moderate soil, light wear.  Smells like a ship.
Detail: stains.

The signal flag consists of alternating diagonal five yellow and 5 red stripes.
