signal flag W (Whiskey) 35 x 57" vintage

Vintage salvaged ship's international maritime signal flag, used by ships in communication.  The principal system of flags and codes is the Interational Code of Signals. 

Letter / code / radio name:  
Whiskey. Meaning: "I require medical assistance".  

Blazon: Azure, an inescutcheon gules fimbriated argent.

Natural material.  Stitched.  Light patina, light soil, light wear.  Smells like a ship.
Detail: stains, 1 wood toggle / hardware.

The signal flag consists of a red square or rectangle within a larger white square or rectangle within the largest blue square or rectangle.
