Comoros, Federal and Islamic Republic of. flag 36 x 46 " vintage (1978-1992)

National flag of the Federal and Islamic Republic of the Comoros (used from 1978 - 1992), salvaged from an oceangoing ship.  This Comoros (name derived from the Arabic word for "moon") flag would have been the vessel's "flag of convenience" or "courtesy flag" and was flown by a vessel which actually called (visited) a port in, so it has been to the "homeland"! 

 Natural material.  Stitched.  Light patina, light soil, light wear.  No rips or tears. Smells like a ship.

The flag consists of a white crescent (moon, representing Islam) with 4 white 5-pointed stars (symbolizing the four islands) on a field of green.
